Helping your child settle into school

The staff all work together to help and support your child during their early days ensuring the transition between home – nursery – school is as smooth as possible. Each child is encouraged to become more and more independent within a safe and secure environment.

Parents can play a major role at home by ensuring that certain skills have been mastered.   This will help your child feel confident and secure away from you and more receptive to the learning environment at school.

These skills include being able to:-

Go to the toilet unaided (boys able to use a urinal from reception)

                      Listen to instructions

                      Dress independently

                      Speak clearly

                      Take turns

                      Show good behaviour

                      Value other people’s possessions.
