Our Governing Body

The Governing Body together with the Senior Management Team of Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher, lead the school, by setting the vision and establishing the right culture to ensure your child has the best possible opportunities to learn and develop as a young person.

Our Governing Body comprises 8 elected people plus the Headteacher, a total of 9.  Governors are elected from to represent the diversity of the community in order to bring a range of skills to effectively support the school. Each Governor, except the Headteacher, is elected for a 4 year term of office.

The full Governing Body meets at least once a term, or more frequently if required.  Agendas include School, Governor and Local Authority initiated items. In addition to the Full Governing Body meetings, the Resources and Standards and Curriculum sub-committees also meet at least termly.  The Standards and Curriculum Committee monitors and reviews the teaching, learning and assessment standards within school. The Resources Committee meets to recruit and select staff and to approve and oversee expenditure. Other committees are convened as required e.g. Appeals, Complaints and Pupil Discipline. A named Governor is responsible for overseeing Premises, Health and Safety and liaises with the Head teacher and Office Manager to carry out these duties. This is reported back to the full Governing Body on a termly basis.

Our Governors are an active and committed group who support and challenge the Senior Leadership Team in order to ensure the continuous improvement of the school.

We have all our Governors each year complete a "Declaration of Interest". For the school year 2019/20 no governors declared a business interest and all governors signed to agree to the code of conduct.  One Governor declared a marital relationship to a member of staff.
