Summer Term 2021
The children took photos themselves to record our work in Science. We investigated our sense of touch by finding out what we could identify in a ‘feely box’ without using our sense of sight.
In ICT, we are making our own algorithms to program a Botley robot. We are learning to ‘debug’ the program when it doesn’t work.
In Maths, we have been learning about fractions. We took it in turns to find half of a cupcake.
In Science, we have labelled all the body parts we knew and learnt some new names too.
Spring Term 2021
As the Celebration of Learning for our project ‘Are we Sailing?’ we tested our boats that we designed and made. First we found out whether they would float. Then we tested them to see how far and how fast they could go. What fun we had in the rain!
Boat challenges! Can we make a boat strong enough to hold a plastic brick? Yes we can! The winning design held a massive 26 bricks plus a plastic Pooh Bear, a Tigger and a honey pot! Well done Shipmates!
Boat making! We used the knowledge we learned from our floating and sinking experiments to think about which materials would be the best for making a boat that will float! We then tested our boats out.....
Project Launch Friday 8th January 2021. We have been on material hunts around our classroom, found, sorted and talked about different materials, predicted if they would float or not then tested our predictions. Wow! A busy day with lots of learning (and a few splashes!)
Autumn Term 2020
We used Mrs Deller's on-line Christmas Workshop to understand why Christians celebrate Christmas and why it is so important to them. We made different crafts to help us remember the Christmas story.
Celebration of Learning. Can you spot the difference?
What a super project this has been! We have:
- Made, eaten and written instructions for marmalade sandwiches and Paddington Hat Cakes,
- Learned all about the UK and created our own maps as Paddington went on his travels,
- Drew and painted Paddington in different ways,
- Listened to and talked about lots of Paddington Bear stories,
- Wrote and told our own version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Here we are telling the story orally. You can listen to our retelling by following the link below!
As part of the launch of our project ‘Can you spot the difference’ we have been making marmalade sandwiches for our Afternoon Tea. We have also been painting.Ask your child what it was they were making.
Today, on the 11th November, Class 3 commemorated Remembrance Day by laying stones that we had drawn poppies on. We remembered and were thankful for all those people who gave their lives so that we could be safe and free in our country today.
