All About Us

A very warm welcome to our website; we hope that you enjoy your visit and it gives you a flavour of our family community here at Scartho Infants’ School and Nursery, lovingly known as SIS.  We are a 3 - 7 Infant School located in Scartho, Grimsby.

We place great emphasis on the service we provide for the children and families of Scartho and the wider community we serve.

Scartho Infants’ School and Nursery is a two form entry school. This means that we have two classes in each Year Group as well as our Foundation Stage 1 unit (Nursery).

Finding a school for your child is a very important decision and here at Scartho we understand this.  As the Parent/Carer you need to be secure with your decision and be happy to leave your child with us.

The main school has 4 large classrooms, arranged in pairs, each pair with an adjoining 'breakout' area where pupils work independently as well as in small, focused support groups led by an adult.

The Foundation Stage 2 (Reception) Unit has a spacious semi open plan area with 2 teaching bases, shared learning areas and outdoor learning facilities.  We are fortunate to have two additional rooms in the main building which are primarily used for individual/small group work but can accommodate whole classes to allow for external visitors and workshops to take place. We have a purpose built 'sensory pod' to support pupils with specific barriers and challenges to their learning as well as a large hall and playground.

Our Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery) is a purpose built unit which offers 15 hours free education for children from the term after their third birthday. We have an allocated number of 30 hour placements available if you qualify for the full funding. Please speak to Katie Johns in the school office for further information.

The school enjoys strong links with the community it serves. We hope that you and your child will have a happy and successful time with us and the school looks forward to working in partnership to achieve this.
