How the School day is organised

How the school day is organised

The school session times are:

Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery) Unit Main School

am session - 8.30 a.m. to  11.30 a.m.

LUNCH

pm session - 12.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.

8.55 a.m. to 12.00 noon

LUNCH

1.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.

The main school starts at 8.55 a.m. and the Foundation Stage 1 Unit (Nursery) at 8.30 a.m.  Children should arrive at school no sooner than 8.30 a.m (Nursery Unit) and 8.40 a.m. (Main School) and must be supervised while in the grounds by the parent/carer accompanying them. Classroom staff will be in the cloakroom/classroom areas to receive the children from 8.40 a.m. in the Main School and 8.30 a.m. in the Foundation Stage 1 Unit (Nursery). For the afternoon session in the Foundation Stage 1 Unit children should not arrive before 12.25 p.m.

On arrival, the children should enter school by their own cloakroom area, hang up coats and bags and go directly to their own classroom/teaching area.   In the main school the 8.55 a.m. bell will ring to mark the start of the school day. If a child is late for school, it can be upsetting for them as well as disturbing for the class which may have already started their learning.   Children arriving after the start of the school day are marked as 'Late'.   Frequent or repeated lateness will be reported to the Education Welfare Officer.  All cloakroom doors are closed promptly to safeguard our children.  Parents/carers of children arriving after the doors have been closed must report to the School Office at the main entrance and sign in the child, giving a reason for the lateness.  Parents of children arriving late may not accompany the child into the classroom.

At lunchtime children may go home for lunch, stay for a school lunch or eat a packed lunch from home. Those children going home for lunch should not return before 1.00 p.m.

The school day ends at 3.30 pm.   Due to the age of our children we expect an adult (age 16+) to collect them in all but very exceptional circumstances. Parents/carers should ensure that they arrive on time to collect the children.  For all Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery) children the parent will collect them from the cloakroom door, children are handed over to the parent/carer by the class teacher.

When collecting main school children, we request that parents wait for them outside the cloakroom and the class teacher will hand them over at the door.   Please make sure your child knows who will be collecting them and remember to inform us if any alternative arrangements have been made.

Remember to give anyone collecting your child your secure password - without this we will not handover your child.
