Equality and Diversity

Scartho Infants’ School and Nursery is proud of its inclusive ethos. The school has adopted the NELC Corporate Equality Scheme which includes Race, Age, Disability, Gender, Sexual Orientation and Religion/belief. The Disability Equality Duty (DED) for the public sector requires all maintained schools to take pro-active steps to ensure that their disabled pupils, staff and governors, parents/carers and other people using the school are treated equally. A disabled person (child or adult) is someone who has a physical or mental impairment, which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities. We recognise that there is a wide and varying spectrum of needs and our building has ramps and disabled toilet facilities. If you let us know of any specific requirements for access e.g. wheelchair access for a concert or Parent Consultation Evening we will try to accommodate any reasonable request for your child, children, family member or accompanying or visiting adult.

Access arrangements for disabled children attending the school are made on an individual case by case basis and include facilities for carers to have vehicular access to the school site.
